A-Next is a team of superheroes from the Marvel Comics 2 (MC2) universe, an alternate timeline exploring the next generation of Marvel heroes. The original series was published from 1998 to 1999, followed by the 2006–2007 miniseries Avengers Next.
Overview of A-Next
Alternate Universe (MC2): The series takes place in the MC2 universe, a possible future timeline where the original Avengers team has disbanded. After a crisis, a new generation of heroes—mostly the children or protégés of the original heroes—is called upon to re-form the team.
Publication History: The team first appeared in What If? #105, which also introduced the popular Spider-Girl. The main story of the new team banding together was told in the 12-issue A-Next series.
Storyline: Following a formula reminiscent of the original Avengers’ debut, the new team is formed to face an Asgardian threat instigated by Loki. The team’s adventures involve conflicts with familiar foes and exploring the fate of the original Avengers.
