Doom 2099 (Marvel Comics, 1993–1996)

Doom 2099 is a long-running cornerstone of Marvel’s 2099 line, following a version of Victor Von Doom who suddenly appears in the dystopian future and finds Latveria already under new control. Declaring himself the true Doom, he sets out to reclaim his country, rebuild his power, and impose his vision of “order” on a world dominated by corporations, propaganda, and brutal political games.

What starts as a battle for Latveria escalates into a wider war of ideology and identity: Doom isn’t just fighting enemies—he’s fighting history itself, trying to prove that Doom is inevitable in any era. The series mixes cyberpunk politics, dictatorship-versus-oligarchy power struggles, and large-scale sci-fi conflict, with Doom operating as both protagonist and terrifying force of nature.

The series ran 44 issues (#1–44) and is especially known for its later stretch that leans harder into darker satire and high-concept future-state Marvel storytelling.
