Warriors of Plasm was the flagship title of Jim Shooter’s Defiant Comics, blending science fiction, horror, and superhero storytelling into one ambitious cosmic saga. The series centers on an alien empire known as the Org of Plasm—a bioengineered world where every living being and structure is made from organic material.
When Earth’s energy is detected by the Org, plans for invasion are set in motion. But five humans chosen for experimentation revolt against their captors, gaining strange new powers that make them both heroes and outcasts. These “Warriors of Plasm” become humanity’s last line of defense against a grotesque, living empire intent on consuming the planet.
Known for its richly detailed artwork and unique bio-organic worldbuilding, Warriors of Plasm ran for 13 issues (including the #0 premiere edition) before Defiant’s closure, and remains a cult favorite among 1990s comic fans for its creative ambition and striking visual style.
