X-Men Vol. 4 (Marvel Comics, 2013–2015)

Launched in 2013 and written by Brian Wood with art by Olivier Coipel and David López, X-Men Vol. 4 was notable for featuring an all-female main roster — a first for the core X-Men title. The lineup included Storm, Jubilee, Psylocke, Rogue, Rachel Grey, and Kitty Pryde, with supporting appearances from other familiar mutants.

The series began with the arc Primer, where the team faces the return of John Sublime and a powerful new threat tied to his sister, Arkea — a techno-organic being capable of infecting and controlling machines. The X-Men must stop her before she destroys both mutants and humans alike.

Beyond the action, the book focused on team relationships, mentorship, and the evolving definition of family within mutant society. Storm’s leadership, Jubilee’s maternal arc with her adopted child Shogo, and the strong camaraderie among the women gave the series emotional depth alongside its fast-paced storytelling.

Running for 26 issues, X-Men Vol. 4 stood out for its modern tone, balanced character work, and emphasis on unity, making it one of the more self-contained and character-driven runs of the Krakoa-preceding era.
